RESPONSIBLE SOURCING ANIMAL WELFARE AND LEATHER CONSUMPTION The automotive industry is a major consumer of leather, especially in the production of luxury and premium vehicles. While leather interiors are often marketed as symbols of quality and comfort, their use raises important concerns about animal welfare. COINDU’s leather consumption represents 23% of the main material’s total consumption. From the total of COINDU’s leather suppliers, only 29% are not from European Union (EU) suppliers, however they are part of corporate groups based on EU or Europe. All COINDU leather suppliers have demonstrated their concerns with Animal Welfare issues, and inclusive have demonstrated their trans- parent actions and results on Sustainability Reporting.
