COINDU | Sustainability Report - 2024
SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2024 Between 2019 and 2024, COINDU’s Scope 3 GHG emissions de- creased from 10332,1 tCO 2 e to 7891,3 tCO 2 e. This overall reduction reflects a significant decrease in emissions from the Portuguese opera- tions (Joane and Arcos), particularly in categories such as upstream and downstream transport and employee commuting. However, emissions from the Tetla facility have more than doubled in this period, mainly due to an increase in employee commuting and transport-related activities. This reflects the rise in workforce and operational volume at this site. COINDU continues to monitor and manage its indirect emissions, seeking efficiency improvements across all operations. GHG EMISSIONS INTENSITY In line with best practices in environmental performance monitoring, COINDU tracks the intensity of GHG emissions by calculating the volume of emissions per car set produced (tCO 2 e per set). This indica- tor considers both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and enables the company to assess efficiency improvements over time, independently of fluctuations in production volume. The GHG emissions intensity for the years 2019 and 2024 is presented below, disaggregated by plant and for the COINDU Group as a whole, allowing for a comparative analysis of performance and progress in emission reduction efforts.
