COINDU | Sustainability Report - 2024
Environmental Dimension and the replacement of stationary sources with more energy-efficient technologies and/or alternatives powered by cleaner fuels. As of the 2024 reporting year, we achieved approximately 27% of the total reduction target relative to 2019, marking a step forward in the company’s decarbonization journey. Regarding Scope 2 GHG emissions, the objective is to achieve an 80% reduction in Scope 2 emissions, considering the market-based method, by 2030, comparing to base year emissions (2019). This target includes all Scope 2 emissions from all COINDU plants (Joane, Arcos de Valdevez and Tetla). The plan for achieving the target implies the acquisition of green electricity (which started in 2022) and implemen- tation of reduction energy efficiency measures. In the reporting year (2024), approximately 53% of the target was achieved, related to base year. EMISSIONS OF OZONE-DEPLETING SUBSTANCES (ODS), NITROGEN OXIDES (NOx), SULFUR OXIDES (SOx), AND OTHER SIGNIFICANT AIR EMISSIONS COINDU does not emit significant amounts of ODS, NOx, SOx or other atmospheric pollutants other than those calculated within the scope of its carbon footprint and already presented above. The activity requires mostly electrical energy. Other sources, which can generate emissions of atmospheric pollutants, are limited to ve- hicles and stationary combustion sources such as natural gas boilers, propane gas laboratory chambers, generators emergency, firefighting pumps and stoves for cooking.
